We are back today with your usual type of community update filled with info about recently released or upcoming events and modes, but this time we are also happy to share that the next public test build is here! We’ll have that in first section following the events schedule, but it is being released far earlier than normal, especially for one that is filled with content from the next major in-game update. This test build will be larger than the last couple in relation to the player limit and new playable content, much of which may release in one of the next two seasons. We are thrilled this time to announce that we have added iOS to the mix! You'll need Test Flight to access it, but otherwise it should be a relatively straight forward install. Here are all of the usual details, but please note that we have two different APKs to download this time.

This time around we have two different versions, 32 bit and 64 bit. For anyone unfamiliar, 64 bit is more suited for higher-end/newer devices while 32 bit is generally more suited for lower-end/older devices. We recommend that you only download the 64 bit version if you have no issues running the current version of CODM on the more demanding (high/highest) graphical settings. With all of that said, the 64 bit version is the ideal version we would like players to test during this specific public test build. If you can, please download and use that version of the build. We do have a general cap (as listed above) on how many players can enter into both the iOS and Android versions of this test. You unfortunately won’t be able to see if that limit has been met until you try to register an account at the login screen. We’ll update the page here once registration is closed, but this is just a heads up for anyone who manages to download after we’ve hit that limit. In this build you’ll be able to find a variety of new content, but some of the main ones you might notice are: Shoothouse (MP Map), Shipment 2019 (MP Map), updated Night Modes, Sword & Stones mode, the Truck in BR, new perks, and the new Bull Charge Operator Skill. Of course, there are plenty of smaller changes or new additions hidden in there too, but this is just a glimpse at what you’ll be able to try out. Some general tips for downloading this rather large file:
Do your best to make sure you on a secure uninterrupted connection so that the whole package is downloaded without any issues
Try to turn off or stop your device from going into any kind of rest mode
If you are running into issues download the file, try using a different browser
Make sure you have 5-6 gigabytes of data free on your device
This file and build is independent of the main build, you do not need to remove or do anything with your main CODM application. It will install as another application that is executed separately. Additionally, the faction that wins it all will snag the ATV – Override and the those who reach the top of the leaderboards can snag the Legendary Calling Card — Rupture. Through all of those different methods there are many rewards to grab by participating in this global battle of territory control! Lastly, you can boost your points by using various weapon sets that are indicated in the top right of this event page in-game. Seasonal Challenges Two seasonal challenges are already out in the wild as of last week and now this week two are more coming your way! The first challenge, Premier Operator, is more of your usual type of seasonal challenge with a variety of rewards and tasks, while Deadly Mist is a unique one due to the fact that you can earn a new piece of a tactical equipment the Gas Grenade by completing it. Find the details below! Premier Operator This six-part seasonal challenge is all about using different operators in Battle Royale and Multiplayer modes. The tasks all vary, ranging from just playing BR matches to getting kills with the S36 while using Outrider. You can earn nearly 20K Battle Pass XP for completing these tasks plus the following rewards:

System Overload Draw While we rarely highlight any draws, crates, or bundles through these community updates, it is hard not to bring up the System Overload Draw. This draw brings with it the second blueprint for the newest assault rifle, the FR .556 - Superhighway, and of course the highly sought-after new operator, Ether - Network. If you acquire the three breach camos for Outlaw, the EMP, and the Karambit then you’ll receive a weapon set bonus for that featured event. That specific weapon set increases the points earned from battles between factions by 50%. You can find all of the information in-game on this new draw or in the featured event. Get a jump on it while everything is still active. Feedback Since the Season 1 launch we’ve primarily been focused more on reporting bugs, but there are still a few feedback-related topics we’ve seen come up and have been trying to respond to on a one-to-one basis whenever we are able to. Let’s jump in!
Voice Overs – We’ve brought up this topic numerous times in previous updates or on social media channels, but we keep seeing interest in upcoming voice overs, updating current (or missing) voices, and of course brand-new operators. We are of course working on all of those, just like we released many updated voice overs alongside some new ones in Season 1, but we are also working on ways to provide more visibility about all of that in future updates.
China Version Content – As you may see in the public test build (if you manage to snag a spot before it is full) we have some content coming in future updates that is also in the Chinese version of CODM, like Trucks in BR. Most likely, we won’t always keep content the same in each version of the game, but the teams managing the game are always working together to coordinate, discuss, and decide what content should release in each version.
Cheater Reports – For whatever reason, most of the time we release an update we see an increase in cheater reports. These have traditionally tapered off one or two weeks into the season, but we have seen no abnormal increases in cheaters. We will always keep an eye out for reports in community areas, so please keep sharing, but also please keep reporting in-game as well and we’ll keep monitoring and acting to make sure your experience isn’t compromised.
Master of All Event – A special shout-out to those who have been giving feedback back about the unique rewards on this event (6000 credits and BP XP as the final reward). The team was looking to see if this type of reward felt valuable to players and so far all we’ve seen is positive feedback about it, which may pave the way for similar reward setups in the future.
Next Update – While we cannot confirm any dates for our next season or update, it is always a moving target for a variety of reasons, we can confirm that the next update will be in March.
Bug Reports We’ve been going through many smaller bug reports lately thanks to threads, PMs, and posts sharing details, videos, or screenshots explaining the issue. We don’t have any huge issues to bring up this week, at least nothing new or seemingly troublesome, but we are working with our teams to investigate many of those smaller issues and please do keep sharing. It is always appreciated!
Battle Royale Bugs – We’ve seen a variety of BR related bugs come in over the past two weeks and they vary greatly in relation to the types, the severity of them, and how widespread they seem to be experienced. While we can’t list it all here, we just wanted to give a general shout-out and thank you to several community members who have spent a significant amount of time making videos, screenshots, and posts to highlight these issues clearly.
Black Screen Issues – We are happy to say that we have seen fewer reports of these types of issues after the Season 1 release after we implemented some general stability improvements for all players in that update. We’ll have more on that front coming in the next major update (next month) and we’ll be monitoring both in-game and external channels for reports.
Blitz Mode Performance – We have seen various discussions about performance issues in Blitz mode due to the changes made to put more players and items in a smaller area. This seems to be a similar issue to why some devices struggle with Warfare mode. We recommend experimenting with different graphical settings before jumping into these modes to see if that helps performance, but we’ll also see if there is anything we can do to help improve performance in these types of modes.

Why I replaced the iPad Pro with the Galaxy Tab S7+
Disclaimer: I'm still testing out the Galaxy Tab S7+ so I can't fully say that I've made the correct decision until I spend much more time drawing on this tablet. I'll probably write an update. The reason why I decided to post this here is because I've wanted to find people who had similar experiences to me, but most seem to direct everyone to the iPad Pro if you plan to do any illustrations. Don't get me wrong, I love Procreate, but I don't like that iPads are the only option for consumers. I wrote all this on a fairly small Youtube video (on my phone so please ignore any errors) and figured it might be helpful here. People don't really explain the differences in too much detail, so I hope this helps someone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just received the Galaxy Tab S7+ but it's not my first Android tablet as my last one was the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. For the past few years I've been using the IPad Pro. My primary use for tablets is for drawing, both as a hobby and for commissions. IPads are still always recommended for artists as there are a plethora of creative apps and generally run well without many hiccups in comparison to Android. Apps are made for the iPads in mind as iPhone will have a different version to purchase, while on Android it's at times blown up mobile apps displayed on tablets. However, there were many things about the IPad Pro that made me want to stop using it. The file explorer is absolutely abysmal. We've only just recently been allowed to create our own folders but it's still very limited. People also fail to mention that there's no progress bar for when you're downloading or copying to the iPad. There's been times where the transfer has frozen and I couldn't tell. In addition to this, the IPad has had trouble recognising my external harddrive so backing up can be a pain. I don't want to rely on cloud storage and I can't exactly just connect the IPad Pro to my Windows PC and drag files onto the device. I also found some bizarre downgrades when changing from iPad Pro 10.5 to IPad Pro 11 (1st Gen) such as split keyboard being removed entirely. I only realised when checking the small print on Apple's website that they've removed split keyboard with the newer models. This makes typing on the IPad much more difficult. I also found that a few games didn't scale to the 11" size and added huge borders. I was surprised that not all apps had been optimised for the 11" size as we're now on the second gen. I almost forgot to mention that the power button has been replaced with a Siri button on newer Pro models. You have to hold down the Siri button and the volume button to turn it off. Samsung has done something similar but you are able to change this back to functioning as a power off button or you can reassign it to other apps of your choice. There's no other options for the iPad. What finally made me decide to try going back to Android is that the S pen's latency finally matches the Apple Pencil and that Clip Studio Paint has been ported over. Krita has also been ported to Android and is known as another powerful illustration software. I prefer working with more open source software and usually there are open source apps to compliment the work flow between PC and Android. Having access to sideloading APKs is a big deal for me and something I missed when using IPad OS. The option of customisation is a big reason why I wanted t change as I've returned to using SwiftKey on the Galaxy Tab S7+. I did try it on the IPad Pro, but unless Apple gives the devs rights, it's less feature rich as the default keyboard. Moreover, I prefer the soft rubber nib on the S pen over the plastic pen tip of the Apple Pencil. Most off set this problem by using a textured screen protector, but you can't quite overcome the fact that it's plastic tapping on glass. Due the Wacom technology in Samsung tablets, there are also other side benefits such as not needing to charge the pen to use it for drawing and being able to use other styluses (such as STAEDTLER Noris digital and Lamy AL-Star EMR Digital Pen) instead of the S pen. I'm also not too worried about updates as I'm sure the XDA Community will continue to develop roms to further the life expectancy of this tablet. I think the iPad Pro can be a great option as there are great apps, but now that Android has received Clip Studio Pro and Krita, the competition has levelled a bit more, at least from the perspective of someone that uses these devices for illustration purposes. I still prefer the IPad's aspect ratio more and this was a determining factor for getting the plus over the S7 as I wanted to factor in the menus taking up space in creative apps. The S7 ends up having less screen estate than the IPad Pro. I do miss certain apps on IPad that feel more polished, but over all the Galaxy Tab S7+ had more pros for me. I do wish Samsung would calm down on the bloatware and not preload so many apps that I can't uninstall, but I think custom roms could resolve this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TLDR: Either tablet is fine, just expect there to be some pros and cons for both. I would say this is one of the critical improvements in my guide, and will solve the problem of clipboard and coarse location snooping among other things. AppOpsX is a free, open source app that allows to manage granular app permissions not visible normally, with the help of ADB authorisation without root. This app can finely control what granular information apps can access on your phone, which is not shown in app permissions regularly accessible to us. Now that you would have set up your phone with installing apps, now is a good time to perform this procedure. Step 1: Install AppOpsX from F-Droid. (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.zzzmode.appopsx/) Step 2: Plug phone to computer, and enable USB debugging in Settings Developer Options (you probably already did this in the starting of the guide) Step 3: Keep phone plugged into computer until the end of this procedure! Open AppOpsX app. Step 4: On computer, type commands in order: adb devices adb tcpip 5555 adb shell sh /sdcard/Android/data/com.zzzmode.appopsx/opsx.sh & Step 5: Now open "AppOpsX" app, and:
disable "read clipboard" for apps except your messengers, notepad, office suite, virtual keyboard, clipboard monitor apps et al.

HOW TO USE NETGUARD
By default, all apps will be blacklisted from WiFi and mobile data access. If not, go to Settings via 3 dot menu Defaults (white/blacklist) Toggle on "Block WiFi", "Block mobile" and "Block roaming" Whitelist your web browsers, messengers (WhatsApp, Zoom et al), file sharing apps, download managers, "Aurora Store" app and any game if needs internet and give them WiFi and mobile data access. Also, whitelist "Downloads" and "Download Manager" as these are system apps that allow web browsers and other apps without built-in downloader to download files. Whitelisting this will keep apps and system stable.
WHICH PHONE BRANDS ARE GOOD AND BAD? (FACTS)
Now we will need to evaluate what manufacturers are relatively safe, no appeasing, I will be blunt. I will make tier lists to help. I will give explanation for each, so read before jumping with pitchforks. NOTE: If you have anti-Chinese political allergy, kindly read facts, or choose the other non-Chinese options listed. Tier 1: Huawei/Honor, Asus, Nokia, Motorola, Sony, LG, FairPhone Tier 2: Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme Tier NOPE NOT AT ALL: Google FairPhone: Clean software, ethical, recyclable components, good phone but bit extra price for midrange hardware. Status: good. Huawei: (still no evidence by US government after one year of market protectionism ban, contrary to what Sinophobic US propaganda and condemned joke research papers (refer to this for why), may make you believe, all countries except US, Australia, Japan and UK are allowing them for 5G participation, there is absolutely ZERO EVIDENCE against specifically Huawei (does not count other Chinese companies), earlier ironically audited by UK GCHQ to be safe and on any of their global devices, to date there has been no telemetry found IFF you do NOT use Huawei ID account or Huawei AppGallery store (as instructed above). I have an OpenKirin rooted unlocked Honor 6X, and now a locked P30 Lite to confirm this. If Huawei's CEO is a former PLA technician, so do plenty US companies. What does it prove? NOTE: Real reason for this propaganda ban is USA could not monopolise 5G unlike it did 4G, and so they are playing their cards to put China out of commission. And Huawei did not steal 5G from USA, since USA does not even have a proper 5G vendor yet. To add, for the rest of world outside China it is better to own a device from a country which has no jurisdiction over them, and you can use their phones without Huawei and Google accounts very safely. BONUS: baseband modem not associated with NSA. Also, good cameras, battery, display and performance in general. Status: good. Asus, Sony, Motorola: their software is nearly stock, and as such quite beneficial and peace of mind assuring. Status: good. LG: less stock-y software, still good. Good cameras. display too. Status: good. Nokia: a bit of skepticism here with them helping spy with nexus with Russia's MTS and recently found Chinese telemetry as well, but nothing that NetGuard cannot stop by blocking domains via HOSTS from interacting with your device. Status: Potential issues, can be mitigated. Samsung: Multiple issues with Qihoo 360 on phones with IMEI MAC sent over HTTP, Samsung Pay selling user data with no optout till now, Replicant devs discovering backdoors, Knox hardware blackbox with no idea what microcode it runs, certification from NSA even worrying, lockscreen and notification ads in OneUI, ads on Smart TVs, this all accounts to being quite shady company, but Blokada or NetGuard can mitigate it. Status: avoid for other brands if possible. Xiaomi: They have quite a bit of telemetry in their MIUI skin, similar to Samsung. Now they have tracking in Incognito Mode in their Browser as well. Status: avoid unless you implement my guide properly. OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo: They have considerably less telemetry and ads, better than Samsung and Xiaomi. But they will start doing the same thing as Realme which I will mention below soon. Status: potential but passable for now. Realme: They are implementing ads into their UI, which will soon come to Oppo and Vivo phones too, a bit of an issue. This allows for telemetry and tracking concerns. Status: avoid if possible. Google: In general an evil megacorp, Titan M security chip is self-claimed to be great on Pixels, but there is no way to verify if the microcode it contains is the same as that open sourced by Google. Having faith in Google's promise of their proprietary closed source chip being clean is like having faith in cyanide not killing a person. Moreover, they are known as:

TL;DR there is no summary, privacy is an indepth topic and you must take a couple of hours to go through this simple guide, as long as it looks it should clear all your concerns with smartphone privacy. This is the best you can do without rooting or modding a phone, and it is working for me since almost a year now, personally tested and verified on my locked P30 Lite. I have a history of rooting and modding phones, one being an Honor 6X before Huawei disabled unlocking policy, one being a Xiaomi and one being a Lenovo before that. Grand Theft Auto 5 is among the most popular entertainment products that've hit the industry in recent years. The extreme monetary success of GT5 apk exceeds virtually any other media name from the past, including books, music, videos, and movies since the majority of the cash is earned from purely voluntary downloads of the game. The app has become much more than simply a gaming tool, however. It's rapidly grown into a legitimate online payment method for online content, as well. Many websites use unknown sources to generate revenue for their owners. For example, the website YouTube is capable of generating revenue from advertisements placed on individual videos, while Google's AdSense program can generate revenue from the advertising on the right hand side pane of all Google web pages. Because of this, many website owners look to other resources to generate revenue from their online content. Unfortunately, some websites unwittingly utilize unknown sources to generate their own hidden profits. For example, a website that touts the free practice of "links" is actually collecting users' personal information and selling it to advertising companies. When a player downloads a "free" application from the iTunes store, he or she releases the information onto the internet. This information is sent to thousands of internet "reporters" throughout the World Wide Web. These "reporters" then bundle the data with ads from numerous different companies, often including major companies like Sony, Nintendo, Best Buy, Viacom, Nickelodeon, Paramount, Lions Gate, MGM, Dreamworks, and others. Some legitimate programs provide users the option to stop receiving these ads, but the vast majority do not. The existence of a Grand Theft Auto 5 android app makes it obvious that these programs are collecting users' personal data and selling it for profits. By scanning any applicable "free" apps and downloading them to the user's device, a player is exposing his or her identity to risk of hacking. The ability to hack into an individual's computer and take over its associated data is common among "free" applications. Likewise, the data obtained by these unknown sources can be used to gain access to a smartphone via the "playstation store" or Trojan horses installed on the device can be remotely executed. Although the need to hack into a person's smartphone is obvious, it is surprising how many individuals do not use caution when installing a particular application. Many people unknowingly allow "free" software to install on their devices in order to access the various different features offered by an application. If an application has the ability to transfer various types of data across different platforms, an individual may inadvertently allow it to install on their mobile device. This flaw allows hackers to easily gain access to a smartphone, thus exposing their personal information and private data to the danger of hacking. Hackers are not the only concern when it comes to exposing a smartphone's data to danger. A person's security can also be compromised by granting unauthorized access to one's account. For example, if an individual wants to download a new application but selects to allow it to run without approval, they may expose their account data to potential hackers who may use the obtained data for illegal activities. Preventing a smartphone user from choosing to install a particular application should always be done to maintain the user's security and personal data.
[Mobile Game: Fate/Grand Order] How a third party app provider managed to piss off the production company of one of the highest grossing mobile games
I've been an avid reader of HobbyDrama for a long time, but this is my first time making a post, so please tell me if there are any errors or things I should elaborate on to improve! I'll try to make this as accurate as possible, but due to language limitations I may miss some information, so I apologize in advance for that. Please also note that there are possible spoilers (although very minor) for the Fate series, Fate/Grand Order in particular.
Background
The drama mainly revolves around Qooapp and the mobile game Fate/Grand Order (website) (Android, iOS). Who, or what, is Qooapp? Qooapp is a third party app provider based in Hong Kong for devices that use Android as their operating system. Qooapp in particular prides itself on being "a professional platform specializing in anime games", among other things, and is used by many in the anime community to access and download Japanese, Korean, and Chinese apps. While it's not always safe to use third party app providers, Qooapp is one that is highly regarded and commonly recommended to Android users interested in playing overseas games. If it's not safe, why use a third party app store? While Apple's Appstore and Google's Playstore are considered official appstores, there will always be certain apps unavailable to you due to digital rights/copyrights (commonly known as region-lock). This is where third party appstores come in; they allow you to download region-locked apps without the need to change your Playstore or Google account region, and operate just like the Playstore would, keeping track of the apps on your phone and providing updates whenever they are available. Qooapp is a very commonly used and trusted third party appstore, but not all third party appstores are held in the same regard. Also note that third party appstores are commonly used by Android users, due to Android users being able to directly download apps/apks off the web. Apple users, for better or for worse, have to go through the process of creating a new Apple account in the region of the apps they want to use. What exactly is Fate/Grand Order? There's a pretty good chance that you've heard of the Fate series (confusing chart, I know) at least once due to its vast amount of content, from its original visual novel, several different anime series (Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero, etc.), its video games, its light novels, mangas, etc. Even if you're unfamiliar with all of these, if you use the internet often, there's a good chance that you probably know of Saber, the genderbent King Arthur (dubbed Altria/Artoria by the game), who is basically the face of the franchise. If the title of the game didn't already give it away, Fate/Grand Order is also a part of this already expansive series. The Wikipedia article covers this pretty well, but long story short, Fate/Grand Order (more commonly known as FGO), is an extremely popular Japanese mobile game developed by Delightworks and published by Aniplex (a production company owned by Sony) that took part in the production of many well-known series such as Fullmetal Alchemist and Swordart Online. FGO's gameplay (note that the link includes spoilers for FGO's prolouge) is a mix of visual novel, turn-based combat, and a gacha based summoning system. The main draws of the game would most likely be the gacha summoning system, which allows players to collect their favorite characters from the Fate franchise, followed by the highly praised writing of the game's main storyline. The appeal of the game was so great that following the release of the Japanese version (JP) in 2015, FGO would release two Chinese versions (one for mainland China and one for Taiwan), followed by a North American version (NA) and Korean version (KR) in 2017. (Unsure of the release dates for the Chinese versions, but they were released before NA and KR). An arcade game (exclusive to Japan) was even released in 2018, along with an anime adaptation of the game's 7th chapter released last year, with another one adapting the 6th chapter in the works.
So how exactly are these related?
Even before the release of the original Japanese game in 2015, there was already a pretty wide overseas audience for Fate, most likely due to the 2014 anime adaptation of the visual novel Fate/Stay Night's Unlimited Blade Works route. When FGO was released in 2015, many overseas players turned to third party appstores to download the game due to the game being region-locked, Qooapp being one of them. Eventually, Qooapp would also provide access to the other four vesions of FGO as well, with FGO becoming one of the top downloaded games on Qooapp. This is especially important, as even though there are so many versions of the game and NA is often treated as the "global" version, all the versions are region-locked to their specific regions (KR to Korea, NA to North America, etc.), meaning that player who didn't live in one of the five regions were unable to download the game. Many players (myself included) played more than one version of the app, but by far the most popular version is the original Japanese one, even with the release of the North American version, which provided the game in English. For context, the JP server recently celebrated their 20 million downloads campaign, whereas the NA version (arguably the second most popular version) only just celebrated its 10 million downloads campaign. This is likely in part due to the JP version being the oldest version of the game and being the furthest ahead content wise. The NA version, due to being released two years after the JP version, was two years behind content wise, so those who started with the JP version likely stuck with it or played both, even if they couldn't understand the language (not that this was a problem; the fanbase is large, so many translations are eaily found on websites like the wiki and the subreddit grandorder). Many fans who only play the NA version also actively follow the JP version for news, as we recieve mostly the same content, just two years later (for example, an event occuring in July of 2021 for the Japanese server will likely occur July of 2023 for the NA server; we jokingly refer to the NA server as having Clairvoyance, which is also the name of a skill a highly sought after FGO character possesses).
So what happened?
Following the NA server's 3rd anniversary, the JP server of FGO is currently celebrating its 5th anniversary, which they called "under the same sky", filled with plenty of news, giveaways, and new characters to pull for. Everyone, regardless of server, was excited to hear the news, and many were especially excited due to the addition of the newest character of... Artoria? Many were excited for her, whether it was because they could finally complete their Artoria collection, for the memes, for her strong skills, or simply because they genuinely liked her and all of her versions) (I wish I was joking), or maybe all of the above. At the same time, FGO is currently celebrating summer with swimsuit versions of many characters (fanservice galore). Besides these, FGO announced a guaranteed SSR (GSSR) banner, which, as the name suggests, is a gacha that guarantees you an SSR (the highest rarity) character, but only if you pay with real money. The GSSR banner,the swimsuit characters, and the newest Artoria addition would cause many JP server players to "whale", which is gamer speak for spending vast amounts of money on the game in hopes of acquiring what you want (the characters in this instance). The final bit of news announced would be the release of a spin-off/side game called "Fate/Grand Order: Waltz in the Moonlight Lostroom" (also referred to as FGOW or just Waltz). FGOW is a 3D rhythm game featuring one of the game's main and mascot characters, Mash Kyrielight, who is beloved by many fans due to her role in the game. It would be available for free on the App Store and Google Play, but only amaximum of 550,000 downloads would be allowed. After that, the app will be hidden from the app stores. Whether or not the original FGOW app was region locked, I don't know. I've seen people claim that it wasn't, but I have no confirmation on this. What I can confirm, however, was that Qooapp also put FGOW onto its own store, allowing people from all regions to access it. What I can also confirm was that FGOW reached its download limit on August 12th, causing it to be taken down from the App and Play Stores, while Qooapp's FGOW app was up until at least the 15th, if not even longer, thus allowing any user of Qooapp to download FGOW well past the 550,000 people limit. On August 18th, Qooapp suddenly posted a notice informing users that they would no longer be able to provide updates for any Fate/Grand Order related games, meaning that not only was FGO Waltz no longer available, neither was any version of the FGO game itself. The pages for each game itself are still up due to the large community on those pages, but the apps no longer avaible for download off of Qooapp as of the time of writing.
The Effect
Understandably, the FGO players who used Qooapp to download and update FGO were all extremely upset, regardless of the version of the game they played. While the exact reason for no longer providing FGO was unclear other than Qooapp's claim of "changes in the developer's overseas strategies", the common consensus is that it was due to Qooapp allowing their users to bypass the 550,000 downloads limit on FGOW, thus upsetting the Japanese playerbase and Anixplex, the publisher's of the game. Of course, reactions were mixed. Note that this is all happening during the summer celebration and the 5th anniversary, so many people likely sunk a lot of money on the game to try to get their favorite characters. Many people were mad, some at Qooapp for uploading FGOW, some at Aniplex/Delightworks (the game producers) for region locking their games or for making an anniversary game limited. Some saw it as a good time to finally quit playing FGO, or just left Qooapp. Some were just confused while others were trying to help by recommending alternatives, such as APKPure and TapTap, other third party appstores that are commonly used, or by making guides on how to create a Japanese Playstore account. Others were just afraid of even tighter region-locks. Some made jokes and memes, while players who didn't rely on Qooapp just watched it unfold. Another group of people didn't seem to believe that 2020 could get any worse (likely a reference to the shutdown of one of the biggest anime/manga piracy websites earlier this week... or maybe Covid). Qooapp most likely lost a large amount of users, as many seemed to use Qooapp exclusively to play FGO. Other third party app providers most likely gained Qooapp's lost users, namely APKPure and TapTap.
A third party app provider named Qooapp released a limited side app of the popular mobile game Fate/Grand Order (FGO) for more than the alloted number of people, causing the developers to force Qooapp to remove all versions FGO from its store. Many overseas players were then unable to update their accounts using Qooapp, causing them to have to use other methods if they wished to continue playing. People were upset at both Qooapp and at the developers for various reasons. Edit: Fixed some grammatical errors and a mistake in description
Every software developer should have their FreeNAS!
I am a Digital Nomad, Software Developer, and my FreeNAS server has become an irreplacable tool! Also, nobody seems to speak about these use-cases. Before building it, I spent weeks reading every article and subreddit for "what is NAS good for?", and none mentioned some of the applications I use. So, my practical uses with it has been so far:
Store my shit in nextcloud. Also, assign some space to my parents and best friends. Obviously. Nextcloud rules.
If I still had my girlfriend, we would enjoy shared folders to sync both of our pictures into, and then run awesome Nextcloud apps like Face Recognition to categorize those pictures automatically, and then use Cospend so I could prove her that it's her who spent too much money this month. Alongside many other apps, I mean, Nextcloud is amazing. Pff, her loss, she shouldn't have dumped me.
Share a directory with my customer to quickly exchange images and other files. (while developing remotely with designers you never meet, etc). In nextcloud there is a super easy "share folder" button with expiration without requiring login registration, I love it, and they love it too. Way easier than Dropbox.
So this photographer guy I know needs some secure storage. I told him that if he brought me two identical hard drives, I will put them in my box, assign a new user to him, and he can use them in a RAID 1 secure environment. He hasn't come around to doing it yet, but he is very excited. One thing I didn't think this NAS will give me is friends who owe you - but hey, would you look at that. CHA-CHING
This is applicable to everyone using VSCode: I fired up code-server in one of the jails, and now it serves as a powerful code compiling slave. It makes my macbook run on a battery cooler and longer by a factor of 10 throughout the workday. Seriously, a game changer. Only compatibility issue with ExpressJS is that you don't deploy to localhost, but you deploy to some specific IP and port instead. Also, I must be online to do anything, which is not that big of a deal, data consumption is very moderate since it's just SSH under the hood.
Additionally to that, I setup Focker which is just Docker for FreeBSD with a funny name. Since it is the main battery consumer on my laptop, I am very happy to offload this duty onto a server.
If you're into CI/CD, you can use Jenkins. But my company has a great Gitlab CI pipeline already setup, so it's redundant for my use case.
Contradictory to other's claims, deploying your own website for massive use on your server is not as great of an experience as renting a server from AWS or any other hosting service provider. It's slow, takes a long time to setup, you anyway need to pay for a static IP, and is sensitive to bandwidth fluctuation (for example when downloading torrents). So, this bullet is a contradiction to a popular claim about personal servers.
Now, I haven't done this yet, but it's in my plans for the future: Unity offers something called `Cloud Build` service, which I think it is super cool. I can run it in my server, or their servers. Personally, I think that Apple Silicon M1 would just blow any portable competition into the stratosphere. So this will unlikely be actually useful to me once I buy one of those. But it would be fun to try! Imagine - building a Unity app from a phone, and then immediately downloading the .apk! How cool would that be?!
Besides that, here's another mobile app development for Android tip: in Unity or Android Studio, set default build export destination as a Nextcloud sync folder, which is also the same folder that your phone syncs automatically. Hit "build", go to eat a banana, or grab a smoke. And by the time you're done - the .apk file is in your phone already. I absolutely love it. Before used to do the same with Dropbox. There are other alternatives like Unity Remote, but this approach makes me so much more happy! Is that weird?
So I travel a lot, right? Digital Nomad and all... And so when I decide I want to watch a move, I just throw a torrent file in Transmission, and it downloads it to a server faster than any bandwidth I could get on the road or hotel.
Then I fire up Emby, and watch the movie. Here's the cherry on top: if I'm on mobile data, I can crank the stream down to 240p-360p and watch it on my iPad on a bus if I wanted. A 2hr movie at this rez doesn't use up a lot of data. There is no easier way to quickly watch a movie of your choice forfreeand at a low bandwidth usage. Period.
Of course, with Transmission, I can seed torrents to other cheeky bastards like me. Oh, you're against pirating? Bite me!
Personal free VPN service... There's nothing like kicking back your pants, whipping out your phone, tapping away the address of your favorite porn website and BAM you're blocked... Yep, when you travel through countries like Turkey, you find that porn is blocked not just by the DHCP IP, but also Google and Cloudfare DNSes don't work on all ISPs... And VPN services cost... So... You know... I have my own VPN service... In my own server... Which I built myself... For free... And now I can listen to Rammstein Pussy song... for free...
This one's unusual... So are you familiar with apple iCloud-locked device jailbreaking? Well, certain devices can only get jailbroken so much, and they still remain as a useless crippled electronic junk, which otherwise is an amazing computing powerhouse! It bothers me how much wasted potential they have, while Apple proudly continues to claim how they are 100% carbon neutral and e-waste-aware. So I collected a bunch of really great iCloud-locked iPads basically for free, and turned them into awesome media consumption devices with Emby and Nextcloud to watch MY movies and MY photos and browse MY files. Otherwise you can't download apps; you are not allowed to upload or download files onto internal storage; and even if you managed to - you don't even get a "files" app to open them with!!... Seriously, you crippled poor little things, you are so cute and cuddly, I would never ever buy you from a store, but you're ssssso damn cute and cheap!... This made me happy, and therefore - it's absolutely worth it!
My little nephew just started his first year of primary school! Me and his parents are preparing a birthday present which will be a jailbroken iPad (recycled for free) that runs his account of Emby and Nextcloud. Since he can't download games (easily), it will be for browsing/learning/sketching, storing his FIRST digital files, and watching cartoons that his parents will throw torrents in for :) How cool is that? This is one happy uncle-slash-godfather!
Apple Silicon. It's got many problems for developers. But if you offload Docker and other x86 processes to your NAS Jail, all problems are solved!
I guess I will mention it but it's not so fantastic. So this dude released an iPad2 unlock server source code, but, cmon, what's the use of this? It is easier to launch on Windows, so why would I bother trying to virtualize it in FreeBSD? I don't even own an iPad2. I guess I could host it for other people to unlock their iPads... It's not my thing really... Nonetheless, I adore this guy, you should totally check out his YouTube channel. His work makes a difference with e-waste, and he's doing a giveaway soon too!
There you go! SO MUCH happiness from a repurposed, now retired, childhood gaming PC from 2012, which is right now in my grandparent's basement.
